The Samaritan Woman

1 When therefore the Lord knew that the Pharisees heard that Jesus more disciples doth make and baptize than John,

2 (though indeed Jesus himself was not baptizing, but his disciples,) 3 he left Judea and went away again to Galilee,

4 and it was behoving him to go through Samaria.
He cometh, therefore, to a city of Samaria, called Sychar, near to the place that Jacob gave to Joseph his son;

and there was there a well of Jacob. Jesus therefore having been weary from the journeying, was sitting thus on the well; it was as it were the sixth hour;

there cometh a woman out of Samaria to draw water. Jesus saith to her, 'Give me to drink;'
for his disciples were gone away to the city, that they may buy victuals;

the Samaritan woman therefore saith to him, 'How dost thou, being a Jew, ask drink from me, being a Samaritan woman?' for Jews have no dealing with Samaritans.

10 Jesus answered and said to her, 'If thou hadst known the gift of God, and who it is who is saying to thee, Give me to drink, thou wouldest have asked him, and he would have given thee living water.'

11 The woman saith to him, 'Sir, thou hast not even a vessel to draw with, and the well is deep; whence, then, hast thou the living water?
12 Art thou greater than our father Jacob, who did give us the well, and himself out of it did drink, and his sons, and his cattle?'

13 Jesus answered and said to her, 'Every one who is drinking of this water shall thirst again;
14 but whoever may drink of the water that I will give him, may not thirst -- to the age; and the water that I will give him shall become in him a well of water, springing up to life age-during.'

15 The woman saith unto him, 'Sir, give me this water, that I may not thirst, nor come hither to draw.'
16 Jesus saith to her, 'Go, call thy husband, and come hither;'

17 the woman answered and said, 'I have not a husband.' Jesus saith to her, 'Well didst thou say -- A husband I have not;
18 for five husbands thou hast had, and, now, he whom thou hast is not thy husband; this hast thou said truly.'

19 The woman saith to him, 'Sir, I perceive that thou art a prophet;
20 our fathers in this mountain did worship, and ye -- ye say that in Jerusalem is the place where it behoveth to worship.'

21 Jesus saith to her, 'Woman, believe me, that there doth come an hour, when neither in this mountain, nor in Jerusalem, shall ye worship the Father;

22 ye worship what ye have not known; we worship what we have known, because the salvation is of the Jews; 23 but, there cometh an hour, and it now is, when the true worshippers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for the Father also doth seek such to worship him;

24 God is a Spirit, and those worshipping Him, in spirit and truth it doth behove to worship.' 25 The woman saith to him, 'I have known that Messiah doth come, who is called Christ, when that one may come, he will tell us all things;' 26 Jesus saith to her, 'I am he, who am speaking to thee.'

27 And upon this came his disciples, and were wondering that with a woman he was speaking, no one, however, said, 'What seekest thou?' or 'Why speakest thou with her?'

28 The woman then left her water-jug, and went away to the city, and saith to the men,
29 'Come, see a man, who told me all things -- as many as I did; is this the Christ?'
30 They went forth therefore out of the city, and were coming unto him.

31 And in the meanwhile his disciples were asking him, saying, 'Rabbi, eat;'
32 and he said to them, 'I have food to eat that ye have not known.'
33 The disciples then said one to another, 'Did any one bring him anything to eat?'

34 Jesus saith to them, 'My food is, that I may do the will of Him who sent me, and may finish His work;
35 do not say that it is yet four months, and the harvest cometh; lo, I say to you, Lift up your eyes, and see the fields, that they are white unto harvest already.

36 'And he who is reaping doth receive a reward, and doth gather fruit to life age-during, that both he who is sowing and he who is reaping may rejoice together;
37 for in this the saying is the true one, that one is the sower and another the reaper.

38 I sent you to reap that on which ye have not laboured; others laboured, and ye into their labour have entered.

39 And from that city many believed in him, of the Samaritans, because of the word of the woman testifying, -- 'He told me all things -- as many as I did.'
40 When, then, the Samaritans came unto him, they were asking him to remain with them, and he remained there two days;

41 and many more did believe because of his word,
42 and said to the woman -- 'No more because of thy speaking do we believe; for we ourselves have heard and known that this is truly the Saviour of the world -- the Christ.'

Does God exist - Albert Einsten

A University professor at a well known institution of higher learning challenged his students with this question. "Did God create everything that exists?"

A student bravely replied, "Yes he did!"

"God created everything?" The professor asked.

"Yes sir, he certainly did," the student replied.

The professor answered, "If God created everything; then God created evil. And, since evil exists, and according to the principle that our works define who we are, then we can assume God is evil."

The student became quiet and did not answer the professor's hypothetical definition. The professor, quite pleased with himself, boasted to the students that he had proven once more that the Christian faith was a myth.

Another student raised his hand and said, "May I ask you a question, professor?"

"Of course", replied the professor.

The student stood up and asked, "Professor, does cold exist?"

"What kind of question is this? Of course it exists. Have you never been cold?"

The other students snickered at the young man's question.

The young man replied, "In fact sir, cold does not exist. According to the laws of physics, what we consider cold is in reality the absence of heat. Every body or object is susceptible to study when it has or transmits energy, and heat is what makes a body or matter have or transmit energy. Absolute zero (-460 F) is the total absence of heat; and all matter becomes inert and incapable of reaction at that temperature. Cold does not exist. We have created this word to describe how we feel if we have no heat."

The student continued, "Professor, does darkness exist?"

The professor responded, "Of course it does."

The student replied, "Once again you are wrong sir, darkness does not exist either. Darkness is in reality the absence of light. Light we can study, but not darkness. In fact, we can use Newton's prism to break white light into many colors and study the various wavelengths of each color.

You cannot measure darkness. A simple ray of light can break into a world of darkness and illuminate it. How can you know how dark a certain space is? You measure the amount of light present. Isn't this correct? Darkness is a term used by man to describe what happens when there is no light present."

Finally the young man asked the professor, "Sir, does evil exist?"

Now uncertain, the professor responded, "Of course, as I have already said. We see it everyday. It is in the daily examples of man's Inhumanity to man. It is in the multitude of crime and violence everywhere in the world. These manifestations are nothing else but evil.

To this the student replied, "Evil does not exist, sir, or at least it does not exist unto itself. Evil is simply the absence of God. It is just like darkness and cold, a word that man has created to describe the absence of God. God did not create evil. Evil is the result of what happens when man does not have God's love present in his heart. It's like the cold that comes when there is no heat, or the darkness that comes when there is no light."

The professor sat down.

Making Decisions

How to make a decision

So to make good decisions you need to: feel?

Learn to trust your instincts. Don't always insist on 'logical' reasons for everything, such as why to get the silver rather than blue car. Learn to say: 'Because it feels right.'

But don't be tempted to automatically go with greed driven decisions because of strong emotion and then try to flatter yourself with after-the-event justification and rationalisations. Intuitive decision making works best when the distorting effects of emotion are kept to a minimum.

When you do base decision making on weighing up the pros and cons, use your imagination. Really sit down and envisage living with the decision. How does that feel?

Remember, some decisions won't make sense to other people – and that may be OK. Most medical advances (open heart surgery, for one) were instigated by people who decided to follow what seemed like crazy ideas to others at the time.

Don't beat yourself up if you do make a 'wrong' decision. You can learn
 from it and hey – you are human!

WHO IS GOD?

1.God is eternal

He had no beginning; he has always been alive. He is the same yesterday, today, and forever. With him there is no past and no future. God sees our past and future as clearly as he sees our present. God is eternal.

2.God is powerful.

All the energy in our universe comes from God. Every star is a giant ball of fire burning itself out. Our sun is covered with fiery explosions. Some of the flames from these explosions leap upward 80,000 kilometers (50,000 miles).  We call these flames "Sun Spots."  What is the source of such powerful energy? The energy of the universe did not generate itself. It came from an all-powerful God.

3.God is intelligent.

The more deeply we look into the mysteries of nature, the more evidence we find of intelligent planning. Who designed the human brain? The inner ear? The heart? Who drew the plans for the eye, the nose, the lungs, the stomach, and the reproductive system? These things could not have happened by accident any more than these sentences that you are reading could fall out of the sky.
Every new scientific discovery proves that a superior intelligence produced the world we live in. That intelligence is God.

4.God is personal.

In the story of creation, God thinks. God moves. God plans. God speaks. God acts. God produces beauty better than any artist. When we look upon the beautiful colors of spring flowers, tropical fish, sunsets, and rainbows, we see the handiwork of God
In summary, God has all the qualities of personality.

5.God is the source of life

Some people say that life on earth has evolved spontaneously. That is, life suddenly appeared millions of years ago without the help of God. According to this theory, nature somehow produced a living cell, and from that cell, life has developed into higher and higher forms. This idea is known as "the theory of evolution."

Others have said "No" to the theory of evolution because it lacks evidence to support it. They have carefully examined the bones, shells, and prints left by things that lived and died long ago. They have found no evidence to support the theory of evolution. Instead, they have learned that dogs have always been dogs, monkeys have always been monkeys, and people have always been people. The various forms of life appeared on earth suddenly and fully developed, just as the Bible says.
Scientists have discovered that fire burns out, heat cools, energy is used up, everything decays, and life moves toward death. This discovery (known as the "second law of thermodynamics") argues against the theory of evolution.
Life did not develop by itself. It must have been created. It is easier to believe that God was the source of all life than to believe that everything created itself.

6.God owns the world.
According to the Bible, the earth belongs to the Lord because he created it and continues to work in it. He spread out the skies like a curtain. He built the earth and covered it with water like a blanket. God causes water to flow from springs. Streams flow through the valleys giving us water to drink. God sends rain upon the earth and makes the plants grow. He owns all the animals in the forest and the cattle on a thousand hills. Everything in heaven and on earth belongs to God. The world and all its people are his.
Since we belong to God, we must answer to him. God has a right to instruct us, and it is only right that we should obey his commands. He is the Lord of heaven and earth.

 Does God Exist?!

“The human mind is not capable of grasping the Universe. We are like a little child entering a huge library. The walls are covered to the ceilings with books in many different tongues. The child knows that someone must have written these books. It does not know who or how. It does not understand the languages in which they are written. But the child notes a definite plan in the arrangement of the books - a mysterious order which it does not comprehend, but only dimly suspects.”
Albert Einstein

Story of the Son Who Left Home

A man had two sons. The younger son said to his father, "Give me my part of all the things we own."  So the father divided the wealth with his two sons.
The younger son gathered up all that he had and left. He traveled far away to another country.  There he wasted his money like a fool. He spent everything that he had.  Soon after that, the land became very dry, and there was no rain.   There was not enough food to eat anywhere in the country.  The son was hungry and needed money.  So he went and got a job with one of the people of that country. The man sent the son into the field to feed pigs. The son was so hungry that he wanted to eat the food that the pigs were eating.  But no person gave him anything.
The boy realized that he had been very foolish. He thought, "All of my father's servants have plenty of food.  But I am here, almost dead because I have nothing to eat. I will leave and go to my father. I will say to him, "Father, I have sinned against God and have done wrong to you. I am not good enough to be called your son. But let me be like one of your servants."
While the son was still a long way off, his father saw him coming.  The father felt sorry for his son. So the father ran to him.  He hugged and kissed his son. The son said, 'Father, I have sinned against God and have done wrong to you. I am not good enough to be called your son."
"But the father said to his servants, 'Hurry! Bring the best clothes and dress him. Also put a ring on his finger and good shoes on his feet. Bring the fat calf.  We will kill it and have plenty to eat.  Then, we can have a party.  My son was dead, but now he is alive again! He was lost, but now he is found!"  So they began to have a party.
The older son was in the field. He came closer to the house.  He heard the sound of music and dancing. So the older son called to one of the servant boys and asked, 'What does all this mean?'  The servant said, "Your brother has come back.  Your father killed the fat calf to eat. Your father is happy because your brother came home safely."
The older son was angry and would not go in to the party. So his father went out to ask him to come in. The son said to his father, "I have served you like a slave for many years.  I have always obeyed your commands.  But you never even killed a goat for me.  You never gave a party for me and my friends. But your other son has wasted all your money on prostitutes.  Then, he comes home, and you kill the fat calf for him!"
But the father said to him, "Son, you are always with me.  All that I have is yours too.  We must be happy and have a party because your brother was dead, and now he is alive. He was lost, but now he is found."'

Love

“Love is that condition in which the happiness of another person is essential to your own.”
 Robert A. Heinlein
